ABOUT MUSEUMS IN FLORENCE
Museum of collectio "ALBERTO DELLA RAGIONE" and of collection
from '900
The museum is named after the Genovese collector and merchant Alberto Della Ragione, who donated his prestigious collection to the city of Florence in 1970. Through this collection it is possible to follow the development of Italian art in this century, from Futurism to Metaphysical Art and the more recent currents from the sixties.
Among the artists are numerous XX century masters such as De Chirico, Carrà, Morandi, Licini, De Pisis, Casorati and Rosai. There are also the "Roman School" artists - Scipione, Mario Mafai, Antonietta Raphael Mafai - Guttuso and "modern" artists such as Birolli, Cassinari, Migneco and Vedova. There are sculptures by Marino Marini, Arturo Martini, Manzù and Lucio Fontana. The museum also exhibits a small, highly appraised collection of canvases by Filippo De Pisis and a notable nucleus of paintings by Rosai.
